New Mets GM Statement on Tim Tebow’s Baseball Career

The New York Mets have made a big change in the front office, with the retirement of Sandy Alderson and subsequent hire of former agent Brodie Van Wagenen.

Alderson was always pretty optimistic about Tebow’s future with the franchise. Van Wagenen may not have signed the former Heisman winner and NFL quarterback, but he is taking a similar stance.

Triple-A would be a step up for Tebow, even if that’s where he starts out. The Mets’ new affiliate at that level is in Syracuse, after spending a few years with the Las Vegas 51s as their Triple-A squad.

Before breaking the hamate bone in his right hand, Tebow was hitting .273/.336/.399, with six home runs and 36 RBIs through 84 games.

He was named to a Double-A All-Star team over the summer amid a hot streak.
