His decision to stay him to play for Penny Hardaway is not a huge shock. Hardaway has a long established connection with the five-star seven footer.
Calipari went all in calling himself “overrated” as a recruiter. From The Enquirer:
“I think I’m overrated as a recruiter. … I want to be able to sleep at night, make sure I’m telling the truth. … We don’t get every kid; we get the ones we’re supposed to get.”
