National Champion Clemson to visit White House Jan. 14

Even as the government shutdown rolls along, President Trump confirmed that Clemson will visit the White House exactly one week after winning the College Football Playoff title game.

This will mark the Tigers’ second trip to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with Trump sitting in the Oval Office as the 2016 team, which beat the Crimson Tide in that year’s championship game, accepted the invitation and visited Washington D.C. in June of 2017.

Many other teams have chosen not to go to the White House. The Golden State Warriors have not visited the White House after their championships. The Warriors and Philadelphia Eagles had their invites “rescinded” by Trump after numerous players on both teams voiced objections about going.
