The Gators played this entire season without their starting center John Egbunu, and won't play with him going forward. Egbunu tore his ACL in February of 2017, and ended up missing this year despite hopes that he would be able to return sometime in January as there were difficulties with his rehab. It was announced in February that he would not return to action this year for the Gators, though he did not confirm anything about his future at the time.
Egbunu has confirmed however, via his instagram, that he will not be petitioning the NCAA for a 6th year of eligibility and returning to the Gators program.
He averaged 9.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in 90 games with the Gators.
